Carl Zaragoza, Governing Board Member

Carl's vision for Creighton is an engaged community working together to create the schools we want for our children.

Carl Zaragoza is an entrepreneurial leader committed to helping all children realize their potential and grow as creative and critical thinkers. Mr. Zaragoza was elected to a four-year term to the Creighton Governing Board in 2014; he returns after serving on the governing board from 2009 through 2013. As a parent, Mr. Zaragoza is determined to raise our standards of excellence, ensure an equitable education for all children, and strengthen our community. Mr. Zaragoza'’'s focus on educational equity stems from his experience as an eighth-grade teacher in Isaac District. Professionally, he works with educators to grow as leaders in their communities and help build the movement for educational equity. Mr. Zaragoza is a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow, a fellow at the Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He is a United States Army veteran, a Teach For America alumnus, and a three-time 140.6-mile Ironman triathlon finisher. Mr. Zaragoza earned a B.A. in political science at Arizona State University and a graduate degree at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He lives in the Monte Vista neighborhood with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs.
