Carl Zaragoza, Governing Board Member


Carl Zaragoza Carl's vision for Creighton is an engaged community working together to create the schools we want for our children.

Carl Zaragoza is an entrepreneurial leader committed to helping all children realize their potential and grow as creative and critical thinkers. Mr. Zaragoza was elected to a four-year term to the Creighton Governing Board in 2008 and again in 2014. Mr. Zaragoza's priorities are raising Creighton's standards of excellence, ensuring an equitable education for all children, and strengthening the community. Mr. Zaragoza's focus on educational equity stems from his lived experience growing up in El Paso, Texas and his experience as an eighth-grade teacher in central Phoenix. Professionally, he leads a team that inspires, cultivates, and develops educators across the country to pursue elected leadership in pursuit of educational equity. Mr. Zaragoza is a Pahara-Aspen Education Fellow, a fellow at the Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He is a United States Army veteran, a Teach For America alumnus, and a five-time 140.6-mile Ironman triathlon finisher. Mr. Zaragoza earned a B.A. in political science at Arizona State University and a graduate degree at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. A life-long learner, he is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration at Arizona State University. He lives between Biltmore Preparatory Academy and Monte Vista Elementary School with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs.
