How to Become a Junior Ambassador

PROVIDING CREIGHTON STUDENTS WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF OUR WORLD, ITS DIVERSE CULTURES, AND AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM.

SELECTION PROCESS

Students fill out an application and submit it to the Junior Ambassador Liaison teacher at their school. The student’s family must be willing to support the student’s efforts. This primarily consists of financial contributions (inpidually or through fund-raising efforts) and attending parent meetings.

NOTE: Jr. Ambassadors must have legal residency for the United States. Students traveling to Germany are required to have passports. Visas are sometimes required for students holding passports from other countries.

A team of teachers interview applicants and select the number of students mutually agreed upon by both sides of the exchange. The interview selects students with strong motivation, enthusiasm, excellent citizenship and life skills qualities, and academic achievement (achievement reflecting effort is always put forth to do their personal best). This means maintaining or improving grades.

All students attend after-school classes in preparation for their ambassadorship.

MAINZ, GERMANY EXCHANGE is open to 7th grade students that apply at the beginning of 7th grade. Students travel in June/July the end of 7th grade and host in February of 8th grade.

THE PHOENIX ZOO program is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students that apply at the beginning the school year. Students automatically continue until the end of 6th grade if their performance is satisfactory. New students are 4th graders and replacements at other grade levels. They attend after school programs at the Phoenix Zoo once a month.

USA/DC is open to 8th grade students. They travel in April of their 8th grade.

Please contact your school liaison or Mrs. DuBois if you are interested in becoming a Junior Ambassador.
