Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional

All students are welcome at the Creighton School District. We strive to create an environment at each of our schools that focuses on inclusivity building community.

We have programs in place at each of our schools that emphasize respect, comradely, and works to reduce instances of student harassment, intimidation and bullying.

Bullying Prevention
Creighton Schools participate in the worlds foremost bullying prevention program, Olweus.  Olweus is a research based program that has been proven to prevent or reduce bullying throughout a school setting. The program focuses on:

  • Reducing existing bullying problems among students
  • Preventing the development of new bullying problems
  • Achieving better peer relations at school

If you are concerned that your child is facing any form of harassment, intimidation or bullying, please communicate with the leaders and staff at your school.

Restorative Practices
All Creighton Schools participate in restorative practices on campus. Restorative practices has a foundation of relationship based principals and values:

  • Building and sustaining an inclusive, welcoming community through emphasis of positive trusting relationships.
  • High standards of expectations for learning and behavior in the classroom and high levels of support.
  • Authentic listening and sharing: Equity of voice
  • Non-punitive response to wrong-doing as harmful to people and relationships with an emphasis of repairing harm and restoring community.

A technique our schools use for proactively building the skills and relationships students need when challenges arise is Community Circles. Community Circles help students to process their thoughts and feelings, share experiences and build relationships so they can better handle their situations and be more present in class.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)
PBIS is practiced at all of our schools. PBIS supports schools, districts, and states to build systems capacity for implementing a multi-tiered approach to social, emotional and behavior support. PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups.
