Parenting Program
Community Education Department offers Parenting Classes that start every eight weeks. Areas of discussion:
- family values
- effective communication
- self-esteem
- thinking outside the box
- creating good habits
- organization in the home
- positive role modeling
- strengthening relationships
To offer more individualized family support, Community Education schedules individual families to meet one on one with our parenting instructor. Parents and children benefit greatly from these individual sessions where they can ask questions and learn to problem solve as a family.

Summer Academy
Summer time provides an excellent opportunity for students who need more time to master curriculum standards. Students receive fifty-two hours of highly individualized academic instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and ESL for New Comers, from highly qualified teachers, in smaller classrooms. Summer Academy teaches and reinforces core academic skills and language, using teaching strategies that reach all learning styles and language levels.
Students register for two subjects and attend a total of four hours per day, Monday through Friday. The novelty this year will be English as a Second Language for New Comers. Students will learn language through experience. Meaningful field trips will be key in developing stimulating thematic units of study.
Besides academic opportunities, Summer Academy also offers classes in Chess, Computers, Art, Guitar, Volleyball, Tennis, and Soccer. In these specialty classes, students explore new challenges, practice their life skills, and cultivate creativity. Parents are encouraged to get involved by volunteering in the classroom. We believe that meaningful parent involvement is a key to student success.
