Welcome to Creighton School District

Welcome to Creighton School District where exciting things are happening! Our district is on the move, making changes that will have a positive impact on our students, their families and our community.
Quality Instruction is one of the most important criteria for student success. Creighton students receive a balanced education in the core academic areas of reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition they participate in art, music, physical education and technology classes during the school day. An addition for 2009-2010 is a designated time for interventions – extra time for reteaching students who haven’t mastered the content or extra time for enrichment for students who have.
Caring Teachers make a difference in the life of a child, and Creighton School District excels in providing a high quality and a highly qualified teaching staff. Teachers participate in ongoing professional development and follow up designed to provide them with the knowledge and skills to help students achieve.
Successful Students is our goal! Creighton School District continues to partner with WestEd and the Ellis Center for Educational Excellence to improve student achievement, eliminate achievement gaps and ensure that all our students meet state standards. In addition, our district is committed to providing students with meaningful experiences both in and out of the classroom. Through our Junior Ambassadorship program, we visit partner schools in Japan and Germany. Our Junior Ambassadors then provide home stays and assist in providing educational experiences when schools from other countries visit us in Arizona.
Squaw Peak Traditional Academy replaces Squaw Peak Elementary beginning in 2009-2010. After making boundary changes and gathering input from the Squaw Peak community, the school redesigned itself into a neighborhood school with a traditional focus. Students will be challenged with a rigorous academic program in a highly structured setting.
Monte Vista School adds 7th grade in 2009-2010. In our effort to offer quality K-8 programs at all our schools, Monte Vista has been adding a grade per year. Students are excited to know that soon they will be able to stay at their home school through 8th grade.
Part of being on the move is continuing our high quality programs and upgrading our facilities. In November 2009, we will ask for community support for continuation of our 10% maintenance and operations override which funds a variety of student programs and services. We’ll also ask for support of a bond to renovate and/or replace some of our schools. Stay tuned for more information on both of these.
Stop by and visit our district office or our schools. Let us tell you more about our exciting plans!
