Choir
Monte Vista Choir is an after school program for 4th-7th grades students who have
a true love for music and singing. Students have the opportunity to learn many
different styles of music and meet new friends from different grade levels.
Choir meets twice a week on Monday and Tuesdays from 4:10-5:30. We will
be doing a choir/band concert at Monte Vista's annual Winter Festival.
Student
Council
Monte Vista Student Council is an after school program where students get to participate
in the political process. At the beginning of the year, student council officers
are chosen. Some are elected and some are appointed. The offices are president,
vice president, treasurer and secretary. 4th through 7th grade classrooms
also pick a representative. These students meet every other Thursday from 4:10
– 5:30 to plan fundraisers, allocate monies, lead school-wide assemblies, participate
in community service and have a lot of fun in the process. Leadership takes practice
and this is a great place to start.
Homework
Club
High School students from Scottsdale School District come on Monday afternoons
to help some of Monte Vista's 4th – 6th graders with homework. MV students
enjoy getting tutored from an older student while learning the importance of completing
homework in order to be better prepared for high school and college.
