Arts Opportunities for All Students

  • All of our students, from kindergarten through eighth grade, receive regular classes in art, music and physical education. Students in all of our schools can also opt for instrumental music classes such as band and string ensembles. At Papago School, students are provided an opportunity to participate in a steel drum band.

Monte Vista School is an Arts Integration School providing some elements of arts education in daily classroom instruction, arts electives like, Improv and Acting, Perspective Drawing,  Guitar, Band, Theater for Change, Graphic Design, Portraiture, Dance, and Choir, and connections to the art community through partnerships with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Grand Canyon University, and Act One.

The arts programs are highly visible, not only within our school district, but also in the community. Student artwork is displayed during arts festivals, with business partners, and in numerous other exhibitions throughout the school year. Band and choir students perform school concerts and events, as do dance and drama students. At Biltmore Preparatory Academy, jazz trios and bag pipe performers are brought on to campus to perform for students and teach about the history of the music they play.

Our dedicated teachers adhere to state standards, but often go far beyond those requirements to ensure the very best possible experience for all students. Our dedicated art and music teachers are knowledgeable in current trends, theories and best practices in their fields.

Numerous studies show that when the arts are an integral part of the curriculum, children excel in other academic disciplines at much higher levels than children who do not have those opportunities. At Creighton our focus is educating the whole child.
