Meet the Principal

    Dear Loma Linda Community,

My name is Dr. Amy Burgess and I am very excited to introduce myself as the principal of Loma Linda and Kennedy Schools. I am honored to be working within a community with such strong ties to our school. Because of this amazing partnership we are lucky to have a community garden, lending libraries, and orchard. We have always valued your support.

A little about me, I have dedicated the last 18 years in education to the belief that all students can learn and grow both academically and social/emotionally. I received my bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree all from Arizona State University. Go Sun Devils! I have been a teacher, coach, assistant principal and am now in my sixth year as principal. In 2019 I was named Elementary Rookie Principal of the Year for the Arizona School Administrators Association.  However, my greatest achievement is being married to my husband Mike for over 17 years and raising two beautiful children, Matteo (15) and Gianna (13).

As a parent and an administrator, I believe in the partnership between home and school is vital. You are your child’s first teacher and we are thankful that you are entrusting us with your child’s educational growth and development.

My focus as the Principal of Loma Linda is to increase academic achievement by:

    • Engaging students in the learning
    • Engaging the community in a two-way partnership
    • Ensuring students safety
